DiffDx Narrowing

Differential Diagnosis (DiffDx) Narrowing is the heart of diagnostic excellence. Each new finding can trigger new diagnoses and support or reduce prior considerations. The DiffDx varies as a case is worked up but should result in a single diagnosis, with or without conditions. This challenge is met by asking questions, doing physical examinations, exploring follow-ups, ordering tests, and evaluating results (ideally for confirmation). This is done most easily with common diseases and requires experience and practice with others. The hallmark of an outstanding diagnostician is efficiency in differential diagnosis narrowing.

Because DiffDx narrowing is so important, vCases challenges users to name the diagnoses they are considering at multiple times during each workup. The DxLibrary® was designed to help experts and beginners address DiffDx narrowing. It focuses on what users do not know, suggests possibilities, and helps narrow considered diagnoses. It helps beginners improve habits, learn more diseases, and grow their expertise with practice. Those with greater expertise expand their skillset with progressively less effort. The DxLibrary was developed to teach and facilitate differential diagnosis narrowing.

Radiologist:  “vCases is very user friendly. Even without reading the directions in depth, I was able to easily figure out how to navigate through the case. I really enjoyed how thorough the case was as well, by that I mean every aspect of history, examination or testing that I could imagine was an option to select. Let me know if f I can help down the line in any way.”
