Clinical Reasoning Quizzes

Each vCase concludes with a set of Feedback Learning Questions designed to provide students with experience in applying the concepts of clinical diagnosis related to the case. These questions are not restricted to the correct diagnosis, but instead focus on the clinical reasoning involved in sorting through the differential diagnosis. So students don’t just learn about the correct diagnosis – they must also be familiar with the various diseases and conditions that need to be ruled out when making the diagnosis.

If students select one of the incorrect answers for such a question, they receive feedback designed to explain the error in their clinical reasoning. Even when students select the correct answer, they have the option of returning to the question to find out why other answers were incorrect. Students report that they often learn more from exploring these wrong answers than they do by just selecting the correct one.
